18. Ernie Bishop NOEL Letters

Ernie Bishop NOEL Letters

Stitched on 28 count white linen

I started the NOEL letters from Ernie Bishop in about 1999 and only really stitched on them at Christmas time.  I have done my best to work on them in recent years and this year they made the WIPocalypse list. I decided to simplify the hardanger and just do plain wrapped bars rather than curved corners and fancy eyelets.

17. CCN Main Street Coffee Shop - Broom Shop

Country Cottage Needleworks - Main Street Coffee Shop

Converted to Broom Store for my Hallowe'en Town
Stitched on 32 count Murano in Charcoal Slate from Sparklies

I kept the basic colour scheme of peach and green but changed it to a more orange shade and a limey-green.  The window and door frames are dark brown and the fence went black.  While the tree became an autumnal tree using DMC 4130, a variegated red/orange/brown. Tiny changes to the shape of the roof and chimney pots.

I also added brooms in the window, a broom vertical door handle and a broom-stand instead of one of the fences. Inbetween the two shops I added a little street light.

Here is the full piece so far:

Here is a photo of the original shop:

07. Samplermakers Spring Sampler

Spring Sampler
Stitched on 28 count Slightly Lilac evenweave from Sparklies

Spring Sampler started back in 2012 when I joined a forum called Samplermakers.

They gave us a selection of motifs to arrange into a sampler. I charted it out and started stitching, got the fence, the plant pot and the right hand tree done and there it stopped.  I just stalled on the left hand mirrored tree.
I picked it up every Longest Day Marathon and worked a little bit on it.  I decided this year that it really needed to be off the list and completed.  Voila!
