Cauldron Cleaner

Stitched on 28 count linen in Radioactive by Chromatic Alchemy

I used the DMC conversion for this one.

I used a DMC Satin thread for the paintbrushes rather than a metallic

31. CCN Main St Bakery - Millinery

Country Cottage Needleworks - Main Street Bakery

Converted to Millinery for my Hallowe'en Town

Stitched on 32 count Murano in Charcoal Slate from Sparklies

I kept the blue and purple colourway but used a grey-blue instead of a pastel turquoise. 

 I used a dark blue for the trim and frames instead of white and added the red accents. 

 I wanted the broad band across the middle to look like a hatband. 

I also changed the hearts at the top to look like hats although my son said they look more like bells!

The hats have red and purple bands in a nod to the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph which starts:

"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me."

So many pretty stitches and different effects in this sampler

Not so silent hours in my case as this was stitched over the Summer Holidays with a very not silent child sitting next to me!

This line reminds me of my dear friend Vickie and her blog A Stitcher's Story

Adding the name of the sampler is a tip from one of the stitchers in the FB group.  Really helpful if you stitch a lot of samplers!

Converted to Cauldrons Store for my Hallowe'en Town

Stitched on 32 count Murano in Charcoal Slate from Sparklies

I took the original colours and just darkened them a bit.   The peachy-orange walls became peachy-brown.  The green awnings and door became lime-green and the trims a dark brown.  The upstairs curtains stayed the same purple.

Then I added the brass cauldron sign, some cauldrons in the window and a large cauldron bubbling away for demonstration purposes so passing witches could gather around it rather than be seated at a nice little patio table.  

All of these extras were designed by me using pencil and graph paper.

The background is stitched using 1 strand and the girl using 2 strands

I chose the fabric specifically for this part where it shows through to form the ground.

I managed to get a copy of the chart which included the embellishment pack and the cute frog charm

The chart also came with a Just Nan charm which I fitted inbetween the hedgehogs.

I started the NOEL letters from Ernie Bishop in about 1999 and only really stitched on them at Christmas time.  I have done my best to work on them in recent years and this year they made the WIPocalypse list. I decided to simplify the hardanger and just do plain wrapped bars rather than curved corners and fancy eyelets.
